This year the 35,000 capacity Big Chill pushed public transport and produced a new transport information leaflet to advise Chillers on the best ways to get to site. The Travel page on the website had over 30,000 hits pre-festival. A green car tax was introduced on car park tickets and this will be increased in increments over the forthcoming years - the aim of the introducing and then increasing the green tax is to encourage Chillers to seek alternative / greener methods of transport. The profit made from the car park tax funds green travel initiatives and this year the profits from the green car park tax funded 500 half price National Express coach tickets and funded the free shuttle bus from the main train station to festival site. We offer free secure cycle parks, hard standing for motorcycles, the free shuttle buses, accessible drop off / collection points for National Express coaches and actively encourage lift share. We actively encourage recycling and reducing the amount of waste generates by means of our long-standing Leave No Trace policy, which is covered on the website and receives editorial in the festival programme.
